A cookie is a reliable mechanisms for websites to recall information or to record the activities of the user. A cookie is a small piece of data stored on the user’s computer by the web browser while browsing a website. A cookie keeps track of the user information such as username, interest, password e.t.c cookies are Brower specific, each browser stores it’s cookie in different location.
ADVANTAGES
- Cookies make browsing faster and easier
- It allows the website to know who you are.
- They can tailor your browsing experience based on the previous visit.
- Cookies is used to run marketing campaign.
- The cookie do not only remember which website you have been to, they remember the information about forms, they can fill out the address forms quick and efficient.
- The cookies help to store the session information and they work without the user being aware that information needs to be stored.
DISADVANTAGES - You can manually encrypt and decrypt the cookies.
- The cookies cannot store complex information as they are limited to simple string information.
- Certain browsers can limit the cookies number stored by each domain.
